Enzo Sellerio – a grand master of Italian photography – will feature at the Dolce & Gabbana Spazio Metropol with an anthology of more than 120 b/w works selected by him personally.
The initiative is sponsored by the Fondazione Banco di Sicilia and the Fondazione Fratelli Alinari and the photographer has taken a personal interest in it, curating the exhibition and editing the catalogue with Monica Maffioli.
Sicily is the common thread running through the exhibition, in the famous street pictures by the Palermo artist that still convey the strength of the people and scenery of his homeland to 21st-century observers 50 years after they were taken.
The event will also take the opportunity to present his portraits of great names of our times (Christo, Arthur Miller, Robert Rauschenberg, to mention but a few) and snippets of everyday life captured on his travels.
The initiative, which has come from Palermo to Milan via Siracusa and Florence, is now looking forward to an international tour, a further indication of the calibre and depth of this remarkable photographer who has given so much to the Italian culture, partly through the publishing house bearing his name that he founded with his wife Elvira in 1969.
